Shrinky Dinks.....Remember Them?????

Hello everybody: Last month, I was checking out THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL by Allison Cope and, as I was watching it, I was transported back to the early 80s. when my daughters were little and we discovered SHRINKY DINKS.
I also vaguely remember that I had a package of this plastic I bought a long time ago to create a plastic flower for a challenge but for the life of me, I can't remember which one.
After a looooong and exhausting search and just before I was making up my mind to go ahead and buy another package, I found it in our basement along with some old Craft Maker magazines, go figure.
So here's the project I created with this truly fun, shrink plastic stuff.

I decided to create a little box that will hold 6 note cards that are just about 3.25x3.25 following THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL. The image on both, the earrings and the note cards are from the Power Poppy stamp set called WILD MUSHROOMS.  One note.....the images you choose to create the earrings or a bracelet or pendant, must be big enough so, when you shrink the plastic, they can retain the details and be a good size.
Here's a close up of the earrings.

Allison Cope used Copic markers to color her earrings, I don't have any Copics so I used Sharpies, you need alcohol markers so the colors can withstand the heat of either the heat gun or your oven.
So I hope you give this a try, this plastic is totally available at any craft store or online, it's so much fun to see the images wiggle and shrink right before your eyes, just please be careful, hold the plastic with tweezers or a metal scoring tool so you won't get burned.

I'm playing along with the following challenges.

  2. For some reason we never had Shrinky Dinks, but I bought shrink plastic for crafting several years ago when it became popular. I still have some of the sheets and I even still have some of the pieces I made. These mushrooms make the most unusual and way cool earrings! You even have a darling little box and matching card. What a great set!
