Quilted With Love.....

Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge Blog

Hello dear blogging friends: Quilting is one of those crafts that truly amazes me, I've seen some incredibly gorgeous quilts at arts and crafts shows that take my breath away, they are beautifully detailed and the designs unbelievably complicated and totally gorgeous.
The SHOPPING OUR STASH has a challenge for you and the theme is QUILTING so here is my card, I think this is the closest I would ever come to the real thing, it took me a while to pick the papers and to line up the rows, sheeesh!! I can only imagine trying to sew the squares, not happening!!!

After all the squares were glued to the panel, I dry embossed it.
Well, all the pattern papers are from my stash, some are from Lili of the Valley others are from old paper pads, the cute little sewing items are from a stamp set from Stampabilities I found at the bargain bin of the craft store for $1.00 last November, when I go to the store, I always check the bargain section, you can really find awesome stuff there.

I wanted to use these images but I didn't want to stamp them directly on the "quilt" so I stamped them on drawing paper, (this is thinner than card stock and watercolor paper) and then I put some painters tape in the back to make it a bit more sturdy so I could fussy cut them, I also used an X-Acto knife to cut the hole in the scissors and the space on top of the sewing machine where the thread is.
The sentiment is from an old Flourishes set called "Stitched for You" that came out back in November of 2012.

This is how the INSIDE of my card looks like.

Both the sentiment and the little flower are from the Flourishes set.

I hope you guys can come out and play with us at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we can't wait to see what you create.

FRIEND FOR LIFE.....

Hello everyone: I'm back with another CAS card using a pair of the cutest stamp sets from Stampin' Up!. These are not like a gazillion years old but still super cute. Both of them are from the 2016-2017 catalog, one of them is the "Pretty Kitty" set, I adore the sweet little kitties and sentiments on this set.
The other set is called "Bella and Friends", from the same SU annual catalog, also cute as can be, all of these puppies are just adorable.
Both these sets are still available even if they were originally in the 2016-2017 SU catalog.

My granddaughter Vanessa has a white as snow Alaskan Husky and a black as night kitty that are the best of friends. Both are from rescue centers and both are just sweet and beautiful.
I stamped the images on watercolor paper with Stazon black ink and colored them with a black SU marker for the kitty and a white gel pen for the doggie. The sentiment is from the "Pretty Kitty" set.

This is how the INSIDE of my card looks like.

I decorated the inside of this card using 3 different stamp sets: The heart border is from  the 2011 Occasions Mini, the sentiment is from a Power Poppy set called Sassy Succulents that was released back in May of 2014 and the little blue birds on the corner are from another cute SU set called "Furry Folk" that was on the 2011-2012 catalog.
If you're wondering how I find out the dates of some of this long gone sets I will tell you that, for the Stampin' Up! sets I go to Splitcoaststampers and click on the link for "Stampin' Up! galleries", there you'll find EVERY SINGLE STAMP SET from them and the dates when they were released.  For the other companies, I often go to the company's blogs where I find the links to the designers' blogs and then, I search there for the stamp sets release dates.
It might sound like a lengthy endeavor but it's quite easy and fast.

I want to play along with the following challenges.
