Chinese Lanterns for RR#65.....

Hello dear friends: This week over at RETRO RUBBER, we have a very cool sketch challenge for you to play with, I think there are a lot of ways to interpret it so, go grab your OLDER THAN ONE YEAR stamp sets (we would love it if you can tell us the age of your stamp or how long you've had it๐Ÿ˜,ok?) This challenge is dedicated to older stamp sets, those that we have neglected for a while, they need to be inked up and share and this is the perfect place to do it. Here is my inspiration card, made with a 2013 Flourishes stamp set called "Pinwheels and Popsicles".

I love all the images on this old set, they are fun, festive and lend themselves to be brightly colored like I did right here.
I stamped just the line where the lanterns are hanging with an old ink pad, just so I can see it and I could go over it with a gold gel pen,  and the tassels with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder, onto a panel of Stampin' Up! Whisper White card stock and then, I stamped the lanterns again onto some water color paper with Stazon black ink because I wanted to water color the lanterns and fussy cut them for added dimension.
To follow our sketch, I cut very thin strips of card stock in the same colors as my lanterns and glue them under the image, I stamped the sentiment from the same set and added 4 Rhine Stones, also in the colors of the lanterns.
Here's the RETRO RUBBER SKETCH for you to play with.

Here is a picture of the finished inside of my card.

I repeated the colors on the inside too, I love the look of this thin strips of paper.
The Sentiment and balloon are from a Hero Arts set called "Be Happy Today"

I'm linking this card onto the following challenges.
Everybody Art Challenge "Happy Birthday"
Tuesday Throwdown challenge #348 "Party Time"
Tiddly Inks Challenge #220 "Make it Rectangle"

I hope my card inspired you to play along with us, for more inspiration, hop over the RETRO RUBBER challenge and visit my awesome teammates' blogs, you'd be happy you did.
Please remember to use at least one stamp that is OLDER THAN A YEAR.
Only new work please, do not back link to posts before our challenge date.
You can combine our challenge with other challenges but please limit those entries to no more than 10, including ours.
Thank you for stopping by, I always read every single comment you so kindly leave on my posts, I want you to know I appreciate them more than words can express.
Until next time, happy stamping.
Hugs from Maria.

This card shows that you can make stamps look absolutely realistic with just a little effort. I had to go back and forth from your post to the photo to see exactly what you did for each detail. WOW! I absolutely love this card. Everything is perfection. Stunning card, my friend!

I don't know how you do it, Maria. That colouring is glorious: the lanterns glow from within, the colours are so translucent and the shadowing makes it look as though they're floating above the page!
